Dosbarth Afon

Hello and welcome to Dosbarth Afon! 

We are a happy and busy mixed Reception and Year 1 class, where we love to learn, explore and play.

Our class teacher is Miss Heap, with Mrs Sutcliffe supporting us in the mornings and Mrs Thomas supporting us in the afternoons.

🌟 Our Topic – Glow and Glitter ✨

This term, we are going to be discovering what makes things shine, sparkle and glow!

We’ll explore different sources of light, from the sun, moon and stars to the lights we use every day. 

As the days get darker, we’ll investigate what happens when the sun goes down and discover how light helps us to see in the dark. 

We’ll also be finding out about changing seasons and winter, and exploring how these changes affect the world around us. 

There will be lots of opportunities for hands-on exploring, investigating, creating, talking and learning through play. We can't wait to see where our learning takes us!

🏃‍♀️ PE

Our PE day is Tuesday.

Children should come to school dressed in their PE kits on Tuesdays.

🌧️ Outdoor Learning

We access our outdoor area every day – come rain or shine! 

Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather. We love getting outside and exploring, so being ready for all kinds of weather helps us make the most of our day!

📚 Reading Books

Reading books will be changed every Monday and Friday.

Please make sure your child's reading book is returned to school on these days so that they can choose a new book to bring home.

We really appreciate your support with reading at home. 

🥛 Snack Time

We provide milk for the children at snack time.

Parents and carers are asked to provide a healthy snack for their child to enjoy.

We are looking forward to a sparkly, shiny and exciting term of learning in Dosbarth Afon!
